While Robert Pattinson has moved on to Emile de Ravin in his newest film “Remember Me,” Kristen Stewart has found herself a new Edward Cullen in the rotund form of James Gandolfini. The Sundance submission “Welcome to the Rileys” stars KStew in her most un-Bella role yet. That’s right, the doe-eyed girl who falls in love with the supernatural has turned those eyes into the seductive, knowing ones of a stripper.

A whole slew of photos emerged yesterday as Sundance announced their 2010 line-up earlier in the week. Though four of the five photos center around Kristen’s character Mallory (probably because she’s the biggest draw to the project considering “New Moon’s” record-breaking success), though arguably Gandolfini’s character Doug Riley is the film’s main character.

Mallory is a 16-year-old stripper who agrees to Doug’s proposition of being paid $100 a day for him to stay at her apartment in Baton Rouge and get his head together (read: no sex, no strings, no problem). Doug is struggling to cope with the death of his daughter eight years before, and begins to try to turn Mallory into his surrogate daughter. When Doug’s wife Lois (Melissa Leo) follows her husband south and completes the picture, Mallory rebels against them as teenagers are wont to do.

Three of the photos released show Mallory from the same scene, assumedly when she first meets Doug. A fourth is of Mallory looking vulnerable and pissed, sitting next to a bed wrapped up in a sheet. Our guess (and word on the street from those who have seen the movie) is that, as a stripper, Mallory doesn’t like to keep her clothes on much in this movie. The final picture is of Doug and Lois.

When Kristen gave an interview for the “Adventureland” DVD release earlier in the year, she said the success of “Twilight” has given her the opportunity to do things that I really like, things like an independent movie nobody would normally see.” She hopes that now people will go see her smaller films because the response will be, as she said, “Oh lets go see Bella in this stripper movie; itll be crazy!”

But “Welcome to the Rileys” isn’t the only KStew-starring film debuting at Sundance this year. “The Runaways” (which also stars Kristen’s “New Moon” costar Dakota Fanning) will be at the film festival as well.

The hottest male who has vanquished all female hearts during his short stint in the showbiz is none other than the sexy vampire Edward of the ‘Twilight’ franchisee also known as Robert Pattinson. The actor who was applauded for his portrayal of Cedric Diggory in ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’ became a rage among the fairer sex when he scorched the silver screen with his terrific fabrication of a vampire in the ‘Twilight’ series.

Robert, who has been at the receiving end of monumental adulation for his mesmerizing performance in ‘Twilight’ and the recent ‘New Moon’, has been linked to his co-star Kristen Stewart by the rumour-mongers. Kristen, who plays Bella in the franchisee, is a powerhouse of talent and her acting prowess are brilliantly matched by her striking looks. Paparazzi have linked the duo who play love-birds in the movie but no official admission has come from their lips. However, in a recent interview, Robert did express his admiration for the elegant lady and showered praise for her acting mettle. He even went to the extent of naming her as his favourite actress.

“Among favourite female actors, Kristen Stewart has impressed me and the whole world, with her acting skills.” [Source]

No surprise here, The Twilight Saga: New Moon was the number one movie in theaters for the weekend following Thanksgiving. RPattz, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner helped sell another $66 million in tickets. A huge surprise is coming from Sandra Bullock, however. Her The Blind Side finished number two with another $40.1 million in sales. The tearjerker of a football flick will easily end up being Sandy’s highest-grossing pic.

The third spot went to the disaster flick, 2012. It brought in another $18 million. Despite simply awful reviews, Old Dogs, with John Travolta and Robin Williams, did a respectable $16.8 million for fourth place. The animated A Christmas Carol took in $16 million for fifth place. [Source]

Forget the supernatural: in Kristen Stewart’s next project, the New Moon star is taking a deeply human turn, playing a troubled teenager in the indie flick The Yellow Handkerchief, due in theaters in February. Costarring William Hurt, Mario Bello and Eddie Redmayne, the movie explores the relationships between three strangers who embark on a road trip through post-Katrina Louisiana. Stewart plays Martine, a teen who hopes to escape her family, while Hurt plays Brett Hanson, a man who has to choose between his ex-wife (played by Bello) or what’s next.

“The part of Kristen in Twilight is completely different from the one she plays in The Yellow Handkerchief, which is particularly interesting for Kristen’s fans all over the world,” says the film’s Oscar winning producer Arthur Cohn. “In my personal opinion, from a pure acting point of view, The Yellow Handkerchief was a more difficult part to play.”

Cohn says that Stewart got the part thanks to the recommendation of one famous former costar.

“It was Jodie Foster, whom I respect and admire, who wholeheartedly recommended Kristen,” he says of her Panic Room costar, “and has always considered her a truly excellent young actress.” [Source]

The Twilight Saga: New Moon grossed an astounding $140.7 million at the box office this weekend, exploding most industry expectations en route to the biggest autumn opening weekend in history and the third biggest three-day debut ever, according to early estimates from Hollywood.com Box Office.

The second film in Summit Entertainment’s blockbuster franchise outright doubled Twilight’s opening weekend of $69.6 million, and it did so almost entirely with a female audience: a whopping 80 percent of New Moon tickets went to women.

Theatergoers were evenly split between those under 21-years-old and over, and they were clearly satisfied, giving New Moon a solid “A-” CinemaScore rating. Despite the film’s sharp drop from its record-setting $72.7 million opening day – New Moon’s Saturday total was $43.2 million, and it’s estimated to take in $24.8 million on Sunday – it’s abundantly clear that Bella, Edward, and Jacob have plenty to howl about: worldwide, New Moon raked in $258.8 million.
Pattinson, 23, was the first star to post on Summit Entertainment’s official “Twilight” Twitter page, writing “Thank you for making NEW MOON #1. It’s very exciting to be a part of something embraced by so many people. I hope you are looking forward to ECLIPSE as much as I am.”

His costar – and rumored real-life love interest – followed suit, with three consecutive postings, which were read by Summit’s 162,700 followers.

“You all have proven you’re the most amazing fans in the world once again,” the 19-year-old actress wrote, before echoing Pattinson’s appreciative sentiments about making the movie tops at the box office.

The second installment in the “Twilight” film franchise, “New Moon” grossed a stellar $140.7 million during its first weekend in theaters, earning $72.7 million on its Friday opening day alone.
Kristen shared, “In a way it’s almost the coolest opportunity that an actor could be given because we only get to explore a character for more than six weeks, which is what I’m used to on an independent movie. I’ve never been able to share it with so many people, share what I love…it’s a once in a lifetime movie so I’ll never have this again. It’s a phenomenon for a reason.” [Source]

The “Twilight” series may have changed the lives of fans worldwide, but perhaps no one has been more affected by its success than the three stars of the film: Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner. All became overnight sensations when they were introduced to the novel’s millions of fans as the faces of Edward, Bella and Jacob – the three high-school students with mystical secrets at the center of the story. Edward is a vampire, Jacob is a werewolf and Bella is the ordinary teenage girl loved by both of them.

Pattinson, 23, Stewart, 19, and Lautner, 17, went from bit parts to big stars with the first “Twilight” film. As they prepare for the release Friday of the anticipated sequel, “New Moon,” the young cast reflected on the ups and downs of newfound fame.

What is the best thing to come out of the “Twilight” mania for you?
Kristen: It’s the same satisfaction that I get from any other movie, it’s just that so many more people are paying attention. I always say I make movies for the life experience – literally, you steal from the characters you play – and to know that that’s actually affecting 100 million not only little girls, but really spans the ages of people, it just feels good. It’s so different from anything I’ve ever experienced, so that’s definitely the best thing.

What’s one thing you miss from your pre-”Twilight” life?
Kristen: I like being outside. I like to take walks and I could totally take walks – it’s not the fans, the fans are great, they would let me walk. It’s the other people, you know what I mean. It’s the other people.

What has been your most memorable fan encounter?
Kristen: There were two girls that wound up in Italy as extras. I had met them previously in Vancouver but they were from Minnesota, so lots of traveling and strange coincidence that they happen to have been placed right next to my mark.

How is “New Moon” different from “Twilight”?
Kristen: It’s very much rooted in the story. The reason “Twilight” felt sort of kinetic, like the energy was sort of hard to grasp… was because the whole story was about not being able to grasp that energy but going after it with full force and not caring about the consequences. That sort of infiltrates “New Moon” because she’s been told that she was absolutely wrong, so now it’s a more mature, considerate approach to the same ideas. Tonally, “New Moon” is different in that it also becomes more dangerous, it becomes more real. She finally opens her eyes and she’s like, “Oh, I’ve woken up in Wonderland. It’s really scary. It’s actually scarier than I thought it was going to be” because there are werewolves and all the bad vampires want to kill her and all of that, so tonally it could not be more different.

Never mind the rampant rumors that Kristen Stewart is dating vampiric costar Robert Pattinson – when it comes to what she wants for her human character in the Twilight saga, the actress is firmly in the Taylor Lautner-Team Jake camp.

“If I was friends with Bella I’d be like, ‘Please make life easier and date Jacob,’ ” she said at a New Moon fan event in London Wednesday – where 2,000 admirers screamed.

But as for Bella herself? “I’d make her a vampire,” Stewart, 19, said.

In real life, Stewart would opt for something infinitely more mundane, if she ever got a month off from Twilight madness, that is. “I would go home and do nothing,” she said. “I know that sounds really boring but all I want to do is do nothing.”

Though Pattinson, 23, dodged questions about his alleged relationship with Stewart by calling reports “speculative,” the leading man said becoming a Hollywood dreamboat has changed his life for the better.

“The paler you are, the better you do with women,” he said. “Becoming essentially a sex symbol, being English, you realize you can break a bunch of molds that I don’t think many people realize you can – you don’t need to go to the gym or anything!”

But would London-born Pattinson arrange a meet-up between Stewart and his folks by arranging for a sleepover with his costars at his family home?

“Oh no,” Stewart said. [Source]
